Study on displacement of KNN asphalt based piezoelectric ceramics in asphalt concrete

Abstract: Piezoelectric materials have good electromechanical coupling characteristics and can be widely used in the field of structural health monitoring. Piezoelectric nondestructive testing technology has become a research hotspot in the piezoelectric field. Asphalt concrete will produce cumulative damage under repeated vehicle loads and natural conditions, so it is suitable for materials and structures for nondestructive testing applications. In this study, the piezoelectric ceramic driving power supply, laser displacement sensor, computer and piezoelectric embedded asphalt concrete are taken as the research objects, and the test system is established. The displacement, hysteresis, creep and dynamic characteristics of KNN piezoelectric ceramic elements embedded in asphalt concrete were tested. The results show that the displacement output reaches 0.4   μ M to 0.7   μ M loadere from 0 N to 150 N. The hysteresis was not obvious when the load was from 0 N to 100 N, aside from higher loads. The creep phenomenon can be divided into two parts: uptrend and balance. The more serious the asphalt binder ageing is, the larger the displacement is, when piezo-asphalt concrete has already been in serious ageing.
