Evaluation of carbonization gas of coal and woody biomass and reduction rate of carbon composite pellets

Abstract: According to the measurement results of carbonization gas release behavior, a carbon composite iron oxide pellet using semi coke or semi coke coal is proposed. Carbonization is carried out under heating conditions until the maximum carbonization temperature Tc, Max is reached to release some volatile substances (VM). The starting point, Max   =   823   of semi coking coal reduction carbon composite pellet produced under TC is observed at the reduction temperature tr. K   =   833   K under heating condition is only slightly higher than TC, Max, which is the target phenomenon of semi hard coal composite pellet. With the increase of TC and Max, the volume of discharged carbonized gas increases and the residual VM decreases, and as a whole, the total calorific value of carbonized gas tends to increase monotonicallylly. The effect of the particle size of the semicharcoal on the reduction rate was studied. When TR is higher than Tc,max, the reduction rate increases, as the particle size decreases. When TR is equal to Tc,max, there is no effect. With decreasing Tc,max, the activation energy Ea of semicharcoal decreases. The maximum carbonisation temperature Tc,max may be optimised for reactivity (1 Ea) of semicharcoal and the total carbonisation gas volume or the heat value.
