Effect of copper and iron ions on sulfide flotation of copper oxide in copper smelting slag

Abstract: The treatment of smelting slag is a hot spot in today s society. The effects of sodium sulfide, copper sulfate and ferric chloride on sulfide flotation of copper oxide were studied. The results show that appropriate Cu2 + concentration can improve the vulcanization effect of copper oxide, while Fe3 + can inhibit the vulcanization effect. Further analysis shows that Cu2 + ion can reduce the surface potential, improve S2 − adsorption, and then generate more polysulfides, so as to promote sulfide flotation. However, Fe3 + ions will increase the surface potential, reduce S2 − adsorption and generate more sulfur, thus inhibiting sulfide flotation.
