Abstract: The effects of powder particle size on densification, microstructure and mechanical properties of hot isostatic pressing 2A12 aluminum alloy powder compacts were studied. The results show that nearly completely dense powder can be successfully obtained. The smaller the powder, the higher the relative density. In addition, with the decrease of powder particle size, the precipitates in the powder compacts change from the continuous point distribution at the junction of powder particles to the concentrated distribution at the intersection of three directions. Compared with large powder, the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of small powder compacts were increased by 14 , 30.8 and 48.6 respectively.
