Influence of flexible 3D multi-point stretch bending die on shape accuracy and its optimization design

Abstract: Aiming at the flexible three-dimensional stretch bending of aluminum profile with multi-point die, the bending process is numerically simulated and analyzed by ABAQUS finite element software. In the process of multi-point stretch bending (MPSB), the effect of the number of die elements with complex cross-section on springback was studied. The shape error between the formed part and the target part is reduced by the method of die surface modification. The results show that the springback of aluminum profile is the smallest when the number of die units is 25 on the premise of saving cost and ensuring the quality of formed parts. In numerical simulation, the maximum shape error of formed parts is reduced from 18.824 to 18.824 mm to 2.456 mm,; In the test, te maximum shape error reduced from 27.26 mm to 6.03 mm through the method of die surface modification.
