Experimental study on phase composition of b-fe-mn-v alloy and thermodynamic calculation of phase equilibrium of b-mn-v and b-fe-mn-v systems

Abstract: The phase composition of b-fe-mn-v alloy was studied by various experimental methods (DTA measurement, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope). In addition to the experimental study of the quaternary system, the thermodynamic simulation of the ternary b-mn-v system was carried out by CALPHAD method, and the thermodynamic calculation of the Quaternary b-fe-mn-v system was carried out. The calculation of the quaternary system is based on the ternary subsystems (b-mn-v, b-fe-v, b-fe-mn and fe-mn-v). Boron is simulated as a interstitial element in all solid solutions of vanadium, manganese and iron. The experimental results are in good agreement with the thermodynamic calculation results. The established thermodynamic database is suitable for the thermodynamic calculation of phase diagrams of all ternary sbsystems and also for the B-Fe-Mn-V quaternary system.
