Prediction of shaft lining service life in sulfate environment

Abstract: Under the influence of high concentration sulfate groundwater, several shafts in Huang Huai area are seriously corroded, but the degradation degree of different parts is different. Taking the auxiliary shaft of Linhuan Coal Mine as the research object, the mechanism of this phenomenon is studied. Then, the dry wet alternate and immersion corrosion tests were carried out. It was found that only the dry wet alternate accelerated test could represent the corrosion mechanism leading to shaft corrosion. However, laboratory testing to achieve the same degradation depth requires a lot of time and money. In order to solve this problem, combined with field and laboratory tests, an improved theoretical degradation model was developed to evaluate residual lithiume of the corroded sidewall. The results indicate that the residual life of the shaft sidewall is 25 years, and the damaged parts have no need for an immediate reinforcement.
