Effect of nano / SBR polymer on Rutting properties of binder and asphalt mixture

Abstract: Rutting is one of the most common diseases in flexible pavement, which can affect the vehicle control characteristics. Although the proportion of asphalt binder in asphalt mixture is very small, its performance plays a vital role in pavement performance and rutting resistance. One way to improve adhesive properties and rutting resistance is to use additives. In this study, nano clay and SBR polymer were used to modify 60-70 penetration binder to study the rutting resistance of binder and asphalt mixture. Therefore, the storage stability, rotational viscosity, DSR and RCR tests of binder and Marshall stability were carried out, and the dynamic creep and wheel rail tests of asphalt mixture were carried out to evaluate the rutting performance. The test and statistical analysis results show that:ated that nanoclay has considerably positive impact on rutting and elastic deformation of neat and SBR-modified asphalt binder and mixture.
