Non-uniform loading superposition of anti plane shear cracks in one-dimensional piezoelectric quasicrystals

Abstract: By extending the dislocation layer method, the closed form expressions of phonon, phasor stress and potential shift components of one-dimensional piezoelectric quasicrystals during the deformation of parallel antiplane shear crack piles under non-uniform loading are derived. Their dependence on the polar angle near the crack tip is deduced, and the field intensity factor is obtained. These show that the crack shielding phenomenon depends on the relative spacing of cracks. Similar analyses involving non piezoelectric or non quasicrystal or simple elastic materials not previously given can be directly regarded as special cases. Even if the load is uniform and the crack is embeddedd in a purely elastic isotropic solid, no explicit representations have been available before for the components of the field at points other than directly ahead of a crack. Typical numerical results are graphically displayed.
