Empirical Comparison of IoT Based Smart Home Models

Abstract: Internet of Things (IoT) has become popular technology for controlling and monitoring IoT connected objects. Applications ranging from smart governance, smart education, smart agriculture, smart health care and smart homes use loT for effective delivery of services without manual intervention in a more effective manner. This paper focuses on one of the prominent applications of IoT i.e. Home Automation System and its different implementations such as with Bluetooth. Moreover, here proposed an extended model for smart home along with its comparison with various discussed models. The home automation system with Ethernet Wi-Fi is considered to overcome the problem related with Bluetooth implementation of the system. Apart from the above discussed systems, here low cost smart security and home automation system is considered which uses internet with the main goal to reduce the power consumption. One more system with renewable energy is studied where solar power system is used for home equipment. All these systems are compared with reference system proposed along with the scope of improvement for each system.
