Strategic Behavior in the Russian Civil Aviation Market

Abstract: The main objective of this research was the analysis of the Russian civil aviation market in 2016 in order to identify the nature of the strategic behavior of firms. Evaluation of the Herfindahl-Hirschman index, entry barriers and the degree of differentiation of services allowed to conclude of moderate market concentration in the presence of high barriers to entry. Most firms are weakly interacting with each other, focusing on their own geography of routes. Moreover, the Lerner index showed the low coherence of pricing policies.
