Abstract: The main objective of the article was to identify the major barriers to development of the meat processing sector (PKD 10.1), and to indicate the directions of action allowing to overcome the identified problems. Meat processing sector is characterised by high fragmentation, low level of vertical and horizontal integration, and low profitability. As a result, European companies have become less competitive against global competitors.
