Qualitative Evaluation of Tomato Hybrids Under Bangalore Condition

Abstract: The quality of fruits of 12 tomato hybrids were evaluated under conditions of Bangalore, India. The fruit characteristics including the biochemical parameters such as pH, TSS were recorded. CoTH1, Pusa Hybrid 2, Virat, SC3, NS812, Utsav, Swaraksha, Avinash, H7711, H176, Ruchi and Akash hybrids were evaluated. From the studies, it is found that for long distance transport, Virat is most suited with its higher pericarp thickness and firmness. For processing such as juice preparation, H7711 can be selected because of high TSS acid ratio and higher juice content. For salad purpose, Pusa Hybrid 2 can be selected due to its high TSS.
