Robust Control of an Artificial Mouth for a Wind Musical Instrument

Abstract: This paper focuses on the first step of a larger research program. The objective of this first step is to develop a simulator programmed with MatLab Simulink in order to help the design of an artificial mouth for wind instruments. Thus, this paper presents the system description and its modelling that leads to the simulator (nonlinear model), then the control law system design of the pressure inside the artificial mouth. From a linearized model of the system, a frequency-domain approach is used to synthesize a traditional PI2 controller and a CRONE controller. Finally, a comparative study shows that the CRONE controller leads to a better robust and stable degree of the pressure supply with respect to its uncertainties.
