Abstract: In this paper, a Hybrid Differential Evolution Heat Transfer Search Algorithm (h-DEHTSA) is proposed for obtaining the controller gain parameters in Small Hydro Power Plant (SHP). Controllers are applied in both governor and excitation system to control both active and reactive power. To study the system dynamic performance a load is applied at different time intervals. In order to observe system stability under dynamic condition, voltage profile is taken in to account. Since, voltage keeps on changing under dynamic condition. Hence it is an important factor to understand the stability of the system. If controllers are unable to maintain steady state value after disturbance, the system loses its stability. Hence for stability our aim is to maintain voltage profile 1 P.U. This is achieved by proper tuning of controller gain parameters. The proposed h-DEHTSA algorithm is compared to other optimization techniques, presented in this paper and also recently published article based on Quasi Oppositional based Lightning Search Algorithm. Finally, it is observed that h-DEHTSA optimized PID controller gives finer performance over other optimization technique presented in this paper only.
