Abstract: The manufacturing of cement requires a huge amount of calcareous and argillaceous rocks of around approximately 10,000 metric tons worldwide. These materials for the manufacturing of cement is reduced drastically worldwide and thus causing a severe threat on environment. For all these reasons an alternative to cement is required to be suggested. Another scare material is river sand which is due to rapid urbanization and growing communities, attracts a huge consumption of sand from river bed as it affects the growing water table and as that of cement the replacement of river sand is also very important. Hence in this study an attempt will be made to study strength and durability characteristics of M30 grade concrete by partial replacing cement with Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS).
