Abstract: The present paper deals with the analytical study of a capillary compensated non-recessed hole-entry hybrid conical journal bearing in terms of static performance characteristics. A newly introduced conical journal bearing configuration, in the research fraternity, is considered for the analytical treatment with the journal speed effects. The Finite Element Method is applied to solve the modified Reynolds equation governing the laminar flow of iso-viscous incompressible fluid in the clearance space of conical journal and bearing. The results obtained for the maximum pressure, minimum fluid film thickness and bearing flow are significant and may be useful for bearing designers.
