Abstract: A mathematical model has been developed to find out natural frequency for varying width cantilever beam with the presence of single open edge crack. The Rayleigh method is used for analytical estimation as eigenvalue method does not give the explicit solution. The width of the beam is considered to be varying linearly. The results are found out for a various taper value of cracked varying width cantilever beam. In addition to this the value of the natural frequency of various crack position is obtained using the stiffness value of the beam.
