Abstract: An attempt has been made to join Duplex stainless steel and Mild steel (MS) using Linear Friction welding (LFW) process. In this investigation Finite element analysis (FEM) was carried on a square butt joint configuration for various conditions. The process parameters chosen are friction load, forging load, friction time, forging time and frequency. Among the above-mentioned process parameters, friction force alone was varied as it was found to be more significant to obtain a good bonding. The FEM analysis revealed that 500 N of friction load imparted minimum deformation and in real time experimentation a good bonding was established.
