Abstract: We are part of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Technical One, and we assist to the way traditional business is quickly changing, the way we leave, learn and communicate. The Education field is not left unaffected as access to communication, to Internet and large volumes of online knowledge, is done in real time and most of the time with almost zero costs. This has driven to new learning paradigms changing the way educators are delivering knowledge and assess progress and also has generated a high demand for IT specialists, in computer programming and other related fields. From an Information Technology viewpoint, education processes had already embraced new technologies to support learning but also it should design new curricula and learning methodologies that will help pupils and students gain specific theoretical and practical abilities. For Computer Science field, and especially Software Engineering Education, the tools used to train future software engineers are identical to the ones used in the software industry. In this paper, we propose an evaluation platform that focuses on using code quality metrics to assess student’s assignment and laboratory activities. Besides the proposed architecture, we define an evaluation model that includes different code quality metrics which are significant to the student experience level. The platform should be integrated in university programs because, at this level, the curricula is focused on real practical skills that will help graduates integrate rapidly in development teams.
